Is Frank Sinatra right for you? Founded by Tony Bennett in honor of his late friend and partner, Frank Sinatra: School of the Arts gives students an education in both academics and arts. Students may take up to three studios in Fine Arts, Instrumental, Vocal, Dance, Drama, and Film & Media. This conservatory-style arts school offers modern facilities and a knowledgeable staff. Sinatra has, however, a dearth of foreign language classes and electives.
Where: Auditions are held at Frank Sinatra in Astoria, Queens.
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, September 8th, 2015 at 10 am.
When: Audition dates for the 2016-2017 school year are on November 7, 8, 21, and 22 (2015) at 8am. Make up dates are on December 5 and 6 (2015) at 8:00am. Note: Students must register through a guidance counselor.
What we know: Audition requirements for each of the studio arts can be found here. Students will be assessed by two faculty members for each studio art they audition in (up to three studios).
In addition, students will be evaluated on the following academic and behavioral scale:
GPA (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies)
Standardized Test Scores for Math Levels: 2-4 and ELA Levels: 2-4
Admissions: Acceptance rates vary immensely depending on the program. Film and Media Arts have an acceptance rate around 10% where dance and drama are closer to 5%. A full list can be foundhere.
Campus tours: Frank Sinatra offers an open house October 13, 2015 at 6:00pm and October 15, 2015 at 6:00pm.
